Project:
Evaluate the feasibility/simulation study of gas cap injection in the Rigel Lower Halfway “H” Pool. Simulation results indicated an incremental oil recovery of approx. 12% is expected. Software: CMG/IMAX
Project: Optimization Design of a 3-well pad Multi-stage Frac Horizontal Wells (MFHW) – Cardium formation

Sensitivity analysis was performed with the objective of determining the optimum Hz well spacing and also the frac design; including the frac size and the number of frac stages. Production forecasts were generating using the Rubis Software for various design options. Further, a production acceleration scenario was evaluated to determine its impact on the project’s NPV.

Project: Well Performance Evaluation

Sensitivity analysis was performed with the objective of determining the optimum Hz well spacing and also the frac design; including the frac size and the number of frac stages. Production forecasts were generating using the Rubis Software for various design options. Further, a production acceleration scenario was evaluated to determine its impact on the project’s NPV.

Project: Evaluation of Multi-stage Frac Hz Well (MFHW) Evaluation

Numerical modeling; using the Rubis software (KAPPA), was used to illustrate the benefits of applying the Multi-stage fracing to an existing Hz well producing from the Red Rock Oil field – Chinook Formation. A multi-layered/multi phase model was generated to account for the two rock types; Conglomerate and sand. The model predict an oil production rate increase of 4 folds for a six-stage frac (open hole completion).

Project: Design of a new waterflood project – Red Rock

Since this field has been on primary production, the expected ultimate oil recovery was not attractive because of the low formation permeability of the Chinook Formation. Based on analytical techniques, it was concluded that the primary recovery factor of approx. 5% could be increased to 20%. The prize of implementing the waterrflood would add additional oil reserves over 15 MMBbl’s. A pilot project was recommended to utilize a new MFHW as an injector and existing offset vertical wells as producers. The selection criteria of the pilot location and performance were determined using a combination of analytical and numerical techniques. Based on the results of the pilot project, further decisions will be made to implement a full scale waterflood project.

Similar design and performance evaluation of Multi-stage Frac Hz Well (MFHW) was performed for the following clients:

– AORC Oil and Gas Ltd.
– Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd (Pelisko Formation)
– Petro Bakken (Bakken Fprmation)

As part of the ERCB requirements for steam injection in heavy oil fields, several Mini Fracs are performed to determine the formation breakdown (frac) pressure. Mini frac analysis has been performed (Saphir software) on numerous wells to satisfy the Board requirement and also to obtain formation parameters critical to fracture treatment design including: closure pressure, leak-off coefficient, formation permeability, etc.
Project: Evaluation of Completion Techniques for MFHW: Valhalla North – Saxsmith (Montney)

Performance comparison of MFHW’s using either open hole (Packer Plus Type) and cased hole was performed. Numerical Production Analysis (Topaz Software) was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the completion/frac techniques used for the existing five horizontal wells. Further, sensitivity analysis was also conducted to optimize the completion and frac design for newly drilled MFHW.

Provided complete project and reservoir management services to exploit the Rigel Lower Halfway “H” Pool (Oil). Including: planned and co-ordinated data acquisition program of subsurface pressure, fluids and core data. Prepared various laboratory programs (special core analysis, PVT,..). Prepared preliminary waterflood design and obtained approval from the government regulatory agency. Conducted a reservoir simulation study using the Exodus Model to predict waterflood performance and optimize the field’s ultimate oil recovery under several development scenarios.
Reviewed the performance of the EOR scheme by gas injection of the Kakwa Cardium “A” Unit. Identified in-fill drilling potential and performed economic evaluation to optimize the timing of the gas cap blow-down.
Performed a reservoir study to evaluate the suitability of the Hussar Glauconite “R” Pool for gas storage. Evaluate the performance of different wellbore configuration, using the WEM Model (Nodal analysis) to meet the project target rate if 200 MMscf/d. Prepared production/injection profiles to ensure that the performance of both the reservoir and the surface gas compressor are synchronized. The project has been operating successfully for several years.
Performed evaluation of the results of a major hydraulic fracture treatment on several gas wells the Bigoray area (Glauconite and Ostracod Pools). Advised the client on the impact of the stimulation treatment on the reserves estimate and on making strategic decision with respect to property divestiture.
Performed waterflood optimization study of the Pierson Field (Manitoba), including: voidage calculations, recommendations to evaluate and improve water injectivity, horizontal well applications and selection well in-fill locations.

Performed waterflood optimization study of the West Eagle Unit (B.C.), including: quantify upside oil recovery and recommend development locations and prepare workover programs to increase production and water injectivity.

Performed sensitivity study of horizontal well applications, using the JTI “Horizontal” program by Dr. Joshi, to optimize well design for the Highvale Banff “H” oil pool and the gas well Enron Edson 8-33-54-17 W5.
Conducted performance review of the Jumpbush Upper Mannville F Pool, including the determination of the OOIP and voidage replacement calculations. Prepared recommendations to improve injectivity & the ultimate oil recovery.
Nodal analysis was performed to solve water loading problems of numerous gas wells in the Gadsby and Bashaw Fields. Successful results were achieved by implementing re-completion recommendations.
Performed reserves and economic evaluations of acquisition opportunities.
Modeled gas gathering system in the Peter area using Fekete Piper program and perform production forecast sensitivity analysis.
Reservoir modelling of the “Waterton” Field. A 3D reservoir simulation model was created to evaluate the performance of horizontal wells in BG’s Waterton Field. A dual porosity – dual permeability simulation model compositional model was built using CMG’s GEM simulation model.
