Production Optimization of Multi-stage Frac of Hz Wells
Mr. Saad Ibrahim: P. Eng
March 23-24 & Sept 14-15, 2026
Course Description:
Optimization of the design of MFHW’s is essential for the bottom-line results. The tools used to optimize the number of frac stages; the size of fracs and the frac conductivity are discussed. Also, the optimum well spacing can significantly impact the number of wells for field development and the drilling costs. Optimum well spacing tools using analytical method (material balance) & numerical method by generating isobaric maps and animation of pressure profiles are discussed with numerous case studies. The tools used to perform optimization including Mini Frac (DFIT), Rate Transit Analysis (RTA) and well testing (PTA) are reviewed with real case studies. Generating production profiles for P10, P50, & P90 using software applications are illustrated to conduct economic analysis.
